Dickson Russell clients

British Standards Institution

Britain's standards making body

1993-1998

Project involved purchase of artworks for public areas and executive floor, based on theme of 'Art and Industry'.

Collection included painting, photography and works on paper by contemporary British artists, textile commission by Jan Blake for suspending in main stairwell and the redisplay of historic portraits of past Director Generals of the Institution.

Dickson Russell devised a programme whereby leading corporate members of BSI loaned artworks from their own collections, also on the theme of 'Art and Industry', for display at Chiswick.

In 1995 Dickson Russell worked with the Royal College of Art, London to establish a annual prize for environmental innovation which is still awarded by BSI to graduate students in the schools of design.

Dickson Russell twice obtained matching funding from Arts & Business for BSI for this project, as recognition of the Institution's first venture into arts sponsorship.
